WHO and WHAT was MLK, Jr.?

WHY DO WE CELEBRATE MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY AS A NATIONAL HOLIDAY?

FIRST, HE WAS A CHRISTIAN, “CHILD OF GOD”

HIS “DOCTOR” WAS A DOCTORATE IN THEOLOGY.

MLK WAS AN EXCEPTIONAL, GREAT “AMERICAN”!

NOT JUST A GREAT “AFRICAN-AMERICAN”. ‘BLACK HISTORY’ MONTH MISSES THE POINT.

AN EXCEPTIONAL GREAT AMERICAN … PERIOD.

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. STOOD FOR “EXCEPTIONAL” AMERICAN VALUES:

“CIVIL (Constitutional) RIGHTS”:

The United States is “EXCEPTIONAL”in many unique ways. The practice of “civil rights” stems from our POLITICAL “EXCEPTIONALITY” – …

… GOD-GIVEN “NATURAL RIGHTS that recognized DIVINE GUIDANCE and PROVIDENCE that are an integral part of AMERICAN History, not an historical accident.

The revolutionary concepts of “natural” and “civil” rights that we are created and born with are embedded in our national “social contract” – the CONSTITUTION.

MLK appealed to these AMERICAN ideals, seeing that we actually LIVED the values of OUR NATIONAL CREED.

He was PRO AMERICAN, NOT HOSTILE to the founding principles which modern “progressives” typically are cartoon-ishly critical of.

Slavery was not “invented” in or unique to the United States.

Slavery and racism has occurred almost everywhere in the world since the beginnings of recorded history.

Slavery has existed before America was formed, and continues today.

The word “slave” comes from white, “slavic” peoples in Europe who were enslaved. I personally happen to be of “slavic” descent. I also happen to be of Portuguese descent, who were notorious slavers. But thank God I am an “American”.

Slavery existed in Africa before white people showed up, and continued after they left. White people are“guilty” – but don’t create simplistic, cartoonish histories.

EVERYONE IS “GUILTY”.

**PREJUDICE IS A HUMAN DISEASE**.

RACISM IS A “SIN” (NOT “SKIN”) PROBLEM

TELL the FULL STORY.

DON’T START and stay stuck in “the MIDDLE” and NEGLECT the BEGINNING and the END of the story.

The “real” and “relevant” question is WHO “ENDED” SLAVERY?

The English and Americans did the most in world history to END SLAVERY around the modern world.

Slavery and racism is an OBVIOUS ISSUE, part of the “tragic” nature of American history.

Some argue it is OUR “ORIGINAL SIN”that will FOREVER TAINT our nation.

We as a NATION are in need of RACIAL “REPENTANCE”.

BUT do not IGNORE the RACIAL REDEMPTION that is ALSO an initial, integral part of our national history and heritage.

**American has an OBVIOUS history of RACISM – but is ALSO the LEAST RACIST nation on earth.**

Cartoonish caricatures of historical “reality” and “POLITICAL CORRECTNESS” fail to tell the FULL TRUTH.

American history is both “tragic” in its origins and hopeful “beyond tragedy”.

American history contains BOTH the “SINS” of racial REMORSE and REPENTANCE AND the “SEEDS” of REDEMPTION

MLK WAS A PROPONENT OF RACIAL REDEMPTION AND “ATONEMENT”,…

NOT “REPARATIONS” AND “RESENTMENTS” (ANGER AND HATE) …

WHICH FUELS A WHOLE RACIAL GRIEVANCE “INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX” OF NEVER ENDING “VICTIMIZATION”, DIVISION AND “OPPRESSION”

**MLK “UNIFIED” AMERICANS IN FREEDOM (THE “PATRIOT CAUSE”)** –

NOT HOPELESSLY”DIVIDED” THEM IN “FASCIST” FACTIONALISM. (THE “PROGRESSIVE CRUSADE”)

TRIBES of “IDENTITY’ of fascist grievance and victimization is inherently UN-American.

MLK exemplified “E Pluribus Unum”, NOT US vs THEM”.

MLK REFERRED TO AMERICA IN BIBLICAL TERMS – AN EXODUS (ESCAPE) FROM THE SLAVERY OF EGYPT, THE DESTINATION THE “PROMISED LAND”, TO BUILD A “CITY ON A HILL”

MLK sought INTEGRATION and ASSIMILATION, NOT SEGREGATION and ANTAGONISM.

MLK must be rolling over in his grave when he sees the JUDASes who have HIJACKED and BETRAYED his cause, “sell outs” and con-men “hustlers” who “sold their souls” for 30 pieces of silver in service to satan.

We are “IN” the WORLD, but not “OF” the world.

The CITY of GOD

MLK was a “PROPHET”, unfortunately followed by many “PROFIT”, who found “opportunity” in the “OPPRESSION” and RACE VICTIMization INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX.

The CITY of MAN

MLK was a “FAITHFUL SERVANT” to the “AMERICAN CAUSE“.

MLK “called out” his fellow Americans in “RIGHTEOUS JUDGEMENT“, NOT self-righteous HYPOCRISY.

He did not offer “strange fire” in un-American, un-holy sacrifice and sacrilege.

MLK criticized his own country out of principled, patriotic love, …

… NOT profitable, POWER-driven HATE.

The Children of DARKNESS (anger, envy, strife, disobedience)

MLK stood for another great, EXCEPTIONAL AMERICAN trait – INDIVIDUALITY.

Judge me by the content of my INDIVIDUAL character, NOT by superficial skin color.

Most peoples live by “TRIBAL CODES” of MOB RULE and “totalitarian” TYRANNY”.

Most people are “SHEEP” who live a life of mindless, cruel CONFORMITY, slaves to each other.

Real Americans refuse to be terrorized by social judgement and political correct IDOL-atry.

Our divine conscience is king for we know we face divine judgment in the next world. Decent Americans recognize the importance and value of “CONSCIENCE”and “CHARACTER”

MLK taught and exemplified this TRUTH.

MLK is a symbol of the RELIGIOUS IDEALS AMERICA was BUILT ON

MLK was a great American who lived by JUDEO-CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES.

“UNIVERSAL – We are a ALL CHILDREN of GOD.

That fact is the biggest an be “CURE” for the “POISON” of hate, prejudice and “oppression”.

THE CITY OF MAN

MLK recognized that “earthly” maladies REQUIRED a “SPIRITUAL” SOLUTION.

“PILGRIM’S PROGRESS” …

“SINNERS SAVED by GOD’s GRACE” …

THE PROMISED LAND

NOT PERFECTION (“heaven on earth”) …

BUT the LIFE of FAITH (in God’s PROMISES)

Most people hear MLK titled an academic “doctor”, without realizing his true “vocation” was a PROTESTANT CHRISTIAN “PREACHER” dealing with the “SPIRIT”

“SINNERS SAVED by GOD’s GRACE” …

MLK was not a “perfect” human being.

He was deeply flawed, like ALL us.

WE ALL FALL SHORT of the GLORY of GOD (Romans)

MLK was a WOMANIZER. Economically, he had SOCIALIST beliefs I find deeply misguided and disturbing.

But we “true” Americans believe in your “RIGHT to be WRONG”!

We are all “SINNERS SAVED by GOD’s GRACE“.

While I admire MLK as a great “American”, I admire him even more as a “CHILD of GOD” walking “The WAY” in “REPENTANCE” (God’s forgiveness), towards “REDEMPTION” (God’s righteousness).

MLK was a “PROTEST-ant CHRISTIAN minister, named after the first “protest-ant” REFORMER unafraid to live life subject to BIBLICAL principles, not a “slave” to human traditions.

“PROTEST”-ants and REFORMERS …

“MAN’s ways are NOT GOD’s ways.”

MLK WAS A “HOLY MAN”– “HOLY” MEANS SOMETHING SEPARATED AND SACRIFICED ON AN ALTAR IN THE SERVICE OF GOD, A SERVANT TO GOD’S PURPOSES.

An ALTAR is a place of death in service to God’s pleasure and HIS ETERNAL LIFE. In that sense, MLK was a “HOLY MAN”

MLK SOUGHT HEALING, NOT HOSTILITY.

HIS CAUSE WAS “DIVINE“, NOT “DEMOGOGIC“

MLK TAUGHT DIVINE FORGIVENESS AND HEALING, NOT “DIALECTICAL”DIVISION AND “RETRIBUTION”.

THE “LORD OF HOSTS”, NOT HEGEL” WAS MLK’S GOD

MLK’s “DESTINATION” was the KINGDOM of GOD, NOT “DICTATORSHIP of the PROLETARIAT” or “WORKER’s PARADISE“

MLK’s “FAITH” made the “FACT” of “RACISM” IRRELEVANT, a force that would be OVERCOME.

“COURAGE”

I am a “recovering public school teacher”.

Before or on MLK Day I would show a video sequence and say this is WHY ALL AMERICANS SHOULD CELEBRATE MLK Day.

He is leading a marching group of civil rights when a gun shot rang out. Everyone flinched and stopped in their tracks, uncertain of what to do.

MLK did the same and STOPPED for a moment, THEN CONTINUED to WALK

EVERYONE FOLLOWED HIS LEAD.

COURAGE is the RAREST of human VIRTUES

FEAR is “NATURAL”.

***FAITH* is *EXCEPTIONAL***

MLK was ultimately a “VICTOR”… NOT “VICTIM”.

We will forever have POLITICAL DIFFERENCES, “visions” of how the “City of Man“should look.

Few have the courage to “live” their convictions in the face of danger and death.

MLK was tragically MARTYRed, a “WITNESS” to a “HOLY” and “RIGHTEOUS” CAUSE.

While we all see MLK “marching” in the “City of Man“, we need to recognize he walked HIS GOD ORDERED PATH with COURAGE, TRUST and FAITH towards GOD’s KINGDOM.

God’s “reality”, “deceptive but true”, ultimately lies BEYOND TRAGEDY.

MLK’s life EXEMPLIFIES why he should be considered a GREAT “CHILD of GOD” and AMERICAN!
